Welcome to the Guild's public forum, celebrating and supporting all forms of wire art jewelry.
And talking about business issues for ALL types of art jewelry!!

A few notes on the board's operation -

o The message board and the web site operate on independent and unrelated pieces of software. Even if you already have a user ID and password for the members area of the the website, you still have to register separately for your message board user id.

o Please keep any images in signatures SMALL!! Keeping them small allows users to read through the posts without getting their train of thought interrupted with "extraneous" information.

o Anyone is welcome to lurk. You must register to post. There is no cost, strings, or obligations to register.

o If you find you are lurking often, please register. We want to encourage corporate sponsorship and a paid advertising page targeted to wire jewelry that you could look at - or not - as you chose or needed to find supplies. (Rather than having to buy a magazine just to get ads to find new suppliers!)

o
Guild BB Posting Guidelines

We are an official non-profit business league, focused on wire art jewelry.
As such, topics of interest to those that make and sell wire art jewelry are welcome.

Yes, we are a "bland" group .
Please avoid discussing or including external links to sites with politics, religion, and other topics that are famous for stirrng up heated reactions. The guild reserves the right to delete posts or entire threads that get too spicy for our business environment.

You may tell us about your business in your "Introduce Yourself" post. If your business is of direct interest to wire jewelry artists (includes independent lapidaries, dichroic glass artists, tool makers, etc. - does not include resale jewelry, tupperware, makeup, etc.), you may also make one posting under the appropriate category (finding supplies, getting on the web, etc). If you want to post updates, go back and update that post rather than starting a new one. Extra posts may find themselves consolidated or removed.

Businesses of interest to wire jewelers may also place ads on our classifieds board by becoming sponsoring members.

And then, there is "critique" . This board offers separate topics for those of you that want serious critique - "Critique Please" is for posts where you would like critique of your jewelry. "WebSite Critique" is for posts where you would like critique of your website. If you do not want serious critique and just want to show somebody what you have done (not all of our husbands are interested in looking), please use "Show Us Your Pictures" for your jewelry or "General Discussion" for other things. We LOVE to look at pictures, even if most of us don't make comments.

When you ask for serious critique, listen to the message without taking it personally. Make sure you are ready for blunt opinions. No one will set out to hurt your feelings, but writings on a forum can be taken differently than intended (no body language to go with it) and hurt feelings can occur. If you are posting critique, please do be as honest as possible, but please also try to remember what it is like to be on the receiving end. Don't pull any punches, but try not to knock the person out cold either!

Thank you for your assistance in keeping this board an environment where we can coax the shy among us to come out and play also. I know sometimes it sounds like I'm talking to myself when I post. I'm actually answering emails I've gotten from people that just won't post on the public bb. Rather than answering their email, I refer them to the post out here. If they are asking, other people also have the same question and I think everyone gets to benefit when the information is out here for all "newbies" to find - whether you are new to wire or just new to the specific technique.

o Thanks to Mazeguy for the extra smilies!

~~ Please feel free to tell us about yourself in the "Introduce Yourself" section at the top of the board! ~~
