Good morning, I just after much hair pulling got my website up and would like some feedback about it, and my work if you so choose. I know it needs work and will spend the time it needs redoing pics and whatever else you all think would help. thanks, Meg http://www.megbrashdesigns.com

Great job on the site. Pages loaded quickly so that is good. The only thing I saw was the policies page was empty. |

Hi! Professional web designer and instructor here. Just a few notes to help you get started:
The header took a long time to load, so I checked it alone and it's nearly 2000 pixels wide and is being resized in HTML - http://www.megbrashdesigns.com/images/DSC01053.JPG - never resize in HTML. Open this in an image editor and resize it there to the 672px wide.
All of your ALT tags are empty - fill them in with descriptions, and that will help with your SEO!
Don't indent lines falsely (with the non-breaking space) - in fact, indenting isn't necessary online.
Pendant is spelled incorrectly throughout the site - it should have only one e!
The links to larger images are OK for now but as you work on the site, I'll recommend much larger images that open on their own page with further details - make it worth the extra click. Again, create secondary thumbnail images - these are being resized in HTML as well.
The five images on the first page seem clickable but aren't - that could be disappointing for a visitor.
Love the prominent Add to Cart.
Love the thumbnail sizes.
Love your personal writing.
Love the clear photographs.
Great start!

Thank you for your great input Gayle, this has been a huge learning project for me and I will do something about the ALT tags if you tell me what they are..there seems to be always something more to learn..but that's a good thing.

Meg,
Take a look at my website at the bottom of the home page. I think you need to have a 'copyright' similar to mine (copy it if you like) Was advised that it was a good thing to have in this day and age. Also added the location as a lot of folks wanted to know where we were.
Look through my policys and procedures see if there is something you need and forgot.
I had wonderful help with my site and don't mind sharing.
Otherwise, the suggestions have been made that I could think of.

Janet - could you explain about getting the copyright? That's my next big thing to do.

I fixed the front page and some spelling but I don't know how to deal with ALT tags. Is it adding description to each picture in properties?

Alt tags are the image descriptions, yes - sorry for the confusion.
Also, a copyright is yours automatically - you just have to declare it so. |

I think your website looks great! I'm working on one, but it is nowhere as sophisticated. I'm hoping to get it up and running by mid February. First I have to get enough inventory to get one going. Congrats on your website!

Thanks everyone, never imagined a web site would be so much work. As soon as I would upload I would remember something so I would have to upload again. Needless to say I'm still doing that. Practice makes perfect I've heard....
