Well that was a very pleasant and glad we tried it show. We had sales!
And, it has finally happened to us, a lovely Raku Pendant, walked away! I also can not believe how many people asked - do you have it in Sterling - for over a year we have heard - do you have it in gold - so we did and less on the Sterling portion. Go figure. I am positive that if I sit down and do many of the next pieces in Sterling - they will still be there next year.
Hope you have good sales too!
Janet

With - let's see- 4 whole shows under my belt....it seems like every show IS different. Once sell rings, then customs, then...it always seem to be the thing you don't think of...??
We had some estate rings at the last show, 2 walked. After my husband noticed the first one, I was SO careful, but it happened again, Arrgh!
Glad the show went well for you!

Sadly those kinds of people are very clever and well polished in what they do. No way to completely avoid it short of keeping everything in glass top cases.

I haven't done any shows since before Christmas. I've been busy trying to build up my inventory and hopefully get up the website. It's ashame people have to sneak things away without paying. Being a newbie to all this, I'll definitely will have to try and keep an eye out. I've been trying to see what is hot on the market. Like you said it seems to be different at each show. First one I ever did, mostly senior citizens attend, and they wanted inexpensive items. The next I sold mostly key chains and book marks. Now I'm trying to have a well rounded inventory, from costume type jewelry to jewelry with semi precious stones and sterling. Not only that still finding my niche. Glad that overall your show did well.

Congrats on the sales! poop on the pendant walking...
I rarely do shows and haven't done one in a loooooong time. If I did do one to where the general public was the customer, I would probably have everything in glass cases....to heck with if I lost sales because of it. I would be sooooo PO'd if something was stolen. Then I wouldn't make any sales because my attitude would be shot. Hence, I don't do shows...

We are still upset about loosing a piece, but what are you going to do. I was bound to happen.
I enjoy talking with people so it does not bother me at all to do a show. As an artist I also love interacting with folks and finding out their likes and dislikes. I have even taken advise and made adjustments to my pieces and - darn if they weren't right and it sold the next show!
I gave up long ago trying to figure out what to bring what to leave with only so much table space. A little of this, earrings, bracelets, high end, low end spring, winter colors - WHEW! Somehow it works and we have sales. I think the most important thing that has worked for us is the willingness to give a discount. Sometimes it is only $5 or $10.00 off the cost, sometimes 20 percent. Be willing to make those adjustements and you will have a sale. As they are looking at a piece and hesistate, I jump in "if you are interested in that piece, I will drop the price ***** - SOLD!.
